East Greensboro
As the Native American Saura and Keyauwee tribes were the earliest inhabitants of what is now Greensboro, the first settlers were mostly Germans, Quakers and Scotch-Irish. In 1807, officials mapped out a 42-acre piece of land and named it Greensborough, later spelling it Greensboro. The new town prospered and became a center for educational and economic opportunities. The center of the Southern textile industry, producing denim, flannel and overalls, Greensboro experienced new construction and burgeoning growth, including the courthouse, churches and other civic architecture. The city earned a reputation as a well-planned community, with a strong emphasis on education, parks, and a profitable employment base.

Greensboro has long been the site of historical significance, playing a part from the Civil War to the civil rights movement. Serving as a stop on the Underground Railroad and the site for the Woolwoths sit-in, Greensboro evolved as North Carolina’s chief cities and voyeur to changes into the American social structure.

Greensboro offers more than just history. The Parks and Recreation operates more than 170 parks and facilities for weekend and summertime fun. Sports fans can cheer on the many of the area’s professional teams, from indoor football, soccer, or golf on one of the 20 public golf courses. The Greensboro Coliseum brings top entertainment, trade shows and sporting events to area residents as well.

With all of the security and charm of being in a small town, East Greensboro has quick access to the downtown area. Whether it's the recreational opportunities, the friendly people or beautiful family-oriented community, East Greensboro provides a quality of life second to none.
